आनंदवन बद्दल थोडेसे : Forest Of Joy

बाबांनी एका झोपडी पासून सुरुवात केलेले आनंदवन आज एक ग्रामपंचायत आहे. त्याचा आवाका फार मोठा आहे. सुरुवातीला दंडकारण्य असलेली हि जमीन आज पूर्ण लागवडी खाली आहे. येथील बाबांचे काम आणी त्याला Dr.विकास आमटे यांनी ज्या प्राकारे पूढे नेले आहे हे बघून आपण किती नगण्य आहोत याची जाणीव होते. बाबांनी येथे कुष्ठरोग्यांची सेवाच नाही तर त्यांचा उद्धार करून त्यांना समाजाचा मुख्य प्रवाहात आनले. बाबांनी त्यांचावर स्वावलंबत्व बिंबवले आहे. बाबा नेहमीच म्हणतात "Give Them Chance, Not Charity....."

प्रभू काकांनी आमची राहायची व्यवस्था रमण कुटीत केलेली.  रमण कुटीतील व्यवस्था उत्तम आणी नेटकी होति. आम्ही आवरले आणी प्रकल्प बघायला नीघालो. येथील परांजपे काकांनी आम्हाला संपूर्ण प्रकल्प समजून सांगीतला. इथे संधीनिकेतन, workshop, हातमाग आदी ठिकाणी अंध, अपंग, कुष्ठरोगी काम करतात. प्रत्येक माणूस हा कलाकार असतो हे येथील लोकांनी केलेल्या greeting cards आणी wall frames वरून कलते. आनंदवनचा स्वताचा "स्वरानंद" नावाचा program आहे ज्यात अंध, अपंग मुले dance करतात, instrument वाजवतात, गातात अगदी कोणत्याही सामान्य माणसाच्या तोडीचे.

इथे शंकुतला आहे जी अपंग असल्यामुळे तीचे सगळे काम पायाने करते. ती इथे अतीशय सुंदर greeting बनवते जे ती स्वतः पायाने विनते. What impossible to me by hand? she is doing by her foot. Isn't it amazing!!!

SHAKUNTALA- The Girl with great Smile.....
At Anandwan, Everyone knows Shakuntala. She is the girl with always smiling face. Being a victim of Cerebral palsy by birth, she can not talk,walk or use her hand. You see the beautifully threaded greeting cards that she stitches using only her toes.
सोबतीला परांजपे काका सुरुवातीचा काळातील प्रसंग सोबत होते.

जेवण झाल्यावर दुपारून परांजपे काकांनी आम्हाला बाबा  आणी साधना ताई चा समाधी कडे घेऊन गेले. अतीशय निस्वार्थी असलेल्या या माणसाला आपल्या मृत्युनंतर हि काही नको होते. त्यांचा इच्छे प्रमाणे त्यांना फक्त केळीचा पानात लपेटून जमीनीत पुरण्यात आले. बाबांचा समाधीचा परिसर देखणा आहे. संपूर्ण आनंदवनाचा परिसराच एकंदरीत नेटका आहे. प्रत्येक ठिकाणी कोणी न कोणी सतत साफ सफाई करत होते.

Cleanliness.

We learned that in Anandwan a tree is planted whenever someone is buried- This way people continue to have there friends & relatives, reborn as Trees. And at the same time it helps save the environment.
It is interesting to note that both, Baba & Tai, passed away on a Saturday on the ninth day of month. It was Tai's wish to be buried right next to her husband; Her wish was fulfilled when she passed away exactly 3 years & 5 moths after Baba.
They were together before death & now even afterwards..... For Eternity!!!!

परांजपे काकांनी आम्हाला Bio-Gas plant दाखवला. Bio-Gas plant, which is unique feature of Ananndwan. The plant is build & design by Dr. Vikas Amte. Until my visit, I didn't know aware that Anandwan has the largest Bio-Gas plant in India. and I also didn't know that Dr. Vikas Amte is the Bio-Gas plant advisory for the government of India!!!  

प्रकल्प बघीतल्यावर संध्याकाळी विकास आमटे नी आमची ओळख करून घेऊन मनमोकळा संवाद सधला. त्यांचा एक विचार अजून मला आठवतो "आनंदवन हे फक्त बाबांचं नसून हे येथील महारोग्यांच आहे. इथे येताना बाबांचं काम बघण्यापेक्षा समाजाने झिडकारले ली मनसे काय काय करू शकतात हे बघा." As Baba said "Give them Chance, not charity!!!  Demonstrate your strength, not weakness."

Words By Dr. Vikas Amte:

• कुष्ठरोग हा फक्त माणसालाच होतो, आणी त्यामुळे माणूस मरत नहि. 

• "आम्हाला आनंदवन बंद करायचं आहे." "My mission is to close ANANDWAN", said Dr. Viaks Amte. "I interpret that as meaning when the mainstream society has matured to the point that no person shall become "UNWANTED" because of Leprosy or of being disabled in any way. Then there will be no need for things like ANANDWAN."

• This is the biggest achievement of Baba's life - The empowerment of those whome the society rejected as "cursed".

•  १९८३ मध्ये बाबांना Damien- Dutton award मिळाला. Damien- Dutton हा वैद्यकीय क्षेत्रातील सर्वात मोठा award आहे. Baba Amte was the 1st non- medical person( Baba was a lawyer by profession) to win the highest medical award in the world. In 1990 he received the Templeton prize, the world's largest cash prize( worth more than the Nobel prize, popularly known as the "Nobel prize for religion").

• Baba had one dream, which was to improve India's relation with Pakistan. त्यांना आनंदवनचा कुष्ठरोग्यांना घेऊन पाकिस्तान ला जायचे होते. त्यांनी यासाठी एक बसही विकत घेतली होति. बाबांचा स्वप्नभंग  झाला जेव्हा पाकिस्तान ने कुष्ठरोग्यांना visa देण्यास नकार दिल. Dr. विकास आमटे ना ते स्वप्न पूर्ण करायचे आहे. पाकिस्तान ला नेण्यासाठी जी बस विकत घेतली होति, ती सध्या Mobile Learning Center म्हणून वापरतात.
